Helicopter Parent or Just Observant? by Jill Krause

We’ve come to an exciting time in toddlerhood, a time I used to fantasize about when my son was an infant. I would think, “One day you’ll actually play with other kids. You won’t just lay here and look at me. I won’t have to be your only source of entertainment.” And that day is here.

Am I Jumping On the Fit Pregnancy Train Too Late? by Jill Krause

I always intended for this second pregnancy to be “different” than the first, meaning
I intended not to blow up the way I let myself the last time around. I told myself this time I wouldn’t indulge as much, and I would stay more active.

Don’t let your Marriage take a Back Seat to Diaper Duty

We’ve all been there, a child is sick, you get a call from the teacher regarding Johny’s behavior in school, the dog got out again, and the baby is happily playing in the toilet! Motherhood can be an exhausting job with little time off and little appreciation.

Unpopular Parenting

One would like to hope that the peer pressure to act a certain way ends when you become an adult. But I am finding that it keeps on keeping on. I am not talking about the desire to “keep up with the Jonses”. The desire to have what other people have will rear its ugly head until the day we die, but I think there is something even more dangerous. It is the desire to be a well liked parent.

The Power of a Smile

It’s a mystery how moms have the energy to get through the day to day, especially in those early years. We’re clearly not drawing our super powers from excessive amounts of rest and relaxation, and the incessant needs and demands, the soundtrack of Nick Jr. in the background intermixed with screams and squeals can sometimes seem to drain every last drop of energy from our bodies.

Trimming The Fat

Losing baby weight sucks. If there was a word stronger than “sucks” I’d be using it instead. I gained about 37 pounds when I was pregnant with my first son and I looked it. I found a picture of myself the other day from those last few weeks and it literally looks like someone stuck an air pump in me and blew me into a human-shaped beach ball.

“But you can’t get sick…You’re a mother!”

My mom used to have a cartoon hanging on our refrigerator when I was a kid that read “But you can’t get sick…you’re a mother!” Having been sick the last 48 hours, I never understood that cartoon as much as I have the last 2 days.

Confessions of a Less Than Stellar Housewife

If I was to be honest with you (and shouldn’t I be?) I would tell you that I am a pretty good mom. My husband tells me I am an awesome wife. And I do a darn good job of providing my kids with healthy, home cooked meals nearly every day of the week.
