Do-It-Yourself: Making Your Own Cleaning Products

As parents we want to keep our homes not only comfortable and fun, but safe for out little ones. Babies and toddlers can create messes that would put fear into the heart of many high school janitors but before you reach for popular floor and surface brands, consider that whatever you spray into the air or in your home, ends up in your child’s body.
I’ll admit it. I used to love the “clean fresh scent” that went along with these potions. The packaging featuring flowers and beaches spoke to me. But after doing my own research and browsing the Healthy Child Healthy World website, I made changes for the sake of my kids. Not only are there safer lines of cleaning products available in stores, it’s very easy to make your own cleaning solutions at home.
My favorite surface cleaner these days is simply vinegar, water, and a few drops of lavender oil! I just mix this in a regular spray bottle and go about the task of making my home appear like a tornado, I mean, 2-year-old, didn’t just rip through it with spaghetti sauce.
Here is my go-to surface solution recipe: Feel free to share it!
