Life With My Premature Miracle
My daughter was born early. Six weeks and one day early to be exact. She was a fighter from the start and we thought for sure she’d be home rather quickly.
Unfortunately she came upon numerous struggles while in the neonatal intensive care and spent six weeks in the hospital. She was released and came home to me for a amazing 18 days and then ended up back in the hospital for another week. Needless to say – its been rough. I am not a single mom, I thankfully have a fiance and my mother who supports me and my daughter so I can be a stay at home mom and be there every time she is sick ( which is pretty often, unfortunately). I can’t say my pregnancy was planned, it wasn’t, but I am very grateful and blessed to have such a beautiful daughter in my life who has shown me who I am.
My daughter has more happiness and joy than most people I know. She never lets being sick slow her down and though she’s only 9 months old ( born 7.22.2009 ) if you ever had a chance to meet her she would change your life and your way of viewing things forever.
My name is Amanda. I’m a 19 year-old-mother of a beautiful baby girl who was born premature due to preeclampsia and IUGR. My daughters name is Bailey Elowyn Grace. She was born weighing a petite 4lbs and dropped to 3 lbs 9oz after birth. She measured 16 7/8 inches long. She was a tiny baby but she was packed full of more strength and willpower than most adults I know!
